26/03/03 - Report on involvement by individuals and groups in the referenda on abortion and the Nice Treaty and the Dáil general election
Comment
The Standards Commission has made every effort to engage with those individuals and groups who were involved in campaigning at the election. It is possible, however, that other individuals and groups were incurring expenditure at the election and should have registered with the Standards Commission. Had they done so, they would have been required to furnish an Election Expenses Statement. It is also possible that other groups or individuals should have registered with the Standards Commission as third parties having received donations for political purposes valued in excess of €126.97 in relation to the election. If evidence of any such groups or individuals becomes available, the Standards Commission will consider the matter and take the appropriate action.
