Exchequer funding of political parties

The Electoral Acts and the Oireachtas (Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices) (Amendment) Act 2001 (hereafter referred to as the Party Leaders Allowance Act) provide for the Exchequer funding of qualified political parties. In 2007, total funding of €12,974,613 was paid to qualified political parties under the Electoral Acts and the Party Leaders Allowance Act.
