Presentation to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Environment, Heritage and Local Government

In November 2007, the Standards Commission received an invitation to attend a meeting of the Joint Committee on the Environment, Heritage and Local Government on 18 December 2007. The purpose of its attendance was to inform the Joint Committee of the role of the Standards Commission at elections. The secretary to the Standards Commission, Mr David Waddell and Mr Aidan Moore, Assistant Principal with responsibility for the Standards Commission's electoral remit made a presentation to the Joint Committee on behalf of the Standards Commission. In addition to a summary of the Standards Commission's role in relation to elections, the presentation also included some of the recommendations contained in the Standards Commission's report on the 2007 Dáil general election.
