Guidelines for the general election to the 30th Dáil
A. What is a "Third Party" and "Other Persons"?
4.1 A "third party" is defined in the legislation as any person, other than a registered political party or a candidate at an election, who accepts, in a particular year, a donation for political purposes, the value of which exceeds €126.97.
4.2 An "other person", is a person or group, other than a candidate, the election agent of a candidate, a national agent of a political party or a third party, who intends to incur expenditure at the election to promote or oppose a candidate or a political party or to otherwise influence the outcome of the election.
4.3 The difference between an "other person" and a third party incurring expenditure at the Dáil general election is that the "other person" would not have accepted, in a particular year, a donation the value of which exceeds €126.97.
