The Standards Commission publishes guidelines under the Electoral Acts to candidates, election agents and the national agents of political parties at Dáil, Seanad, European Parliament and Presidential elections to ensure compliance by them with the requirements of the legislation.
The guidelines cover the main requirements of the legislation relating to disclosure of political donations, prohibited donations, limits on election spending and reimbursement of election expenses.
The Standards Commission has recently published guidelines for the Seanad elections of 2009.
