Ms. Deirdre Lane, Clerk of Seanad Éireann.

Ms. Lane entered the Irish Public Service in 1970 and was assigned to the Department of Social Welfare. In 1975 she the joined the staff of the Houses of the Oireachtas (Parliament). In January 1987 Ms. Lane was appointed Assistant Clerk of the Seanad (Upper House) and December 1990 she was appointed Clerk of the Seanad. Ms. Lane is Examiner of Private Bills, Seanad Returning Officer and a member of the Constituency Commission and the Referendum Commission.

Ms. Lane was a member of the original Public Offices Commission and has been a member of the Standards in Public Office Commission since its establishment in December 2001.
